Foundations of Learning

MyPlace Difference

Elementary School Readiness

Build our students' confidence and desire to learn.

Social Emotional Learning

We guide our students with understanding and managing emotions.

Age Appropriate

Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate to engage and challenge our students.

STEAM-Based Curriculum

STEAM is an acronym that stands for:

Science
Technology
Engineering
Art and
Mathematics

Our STEAM-based curriculum explores all concepts through picture and nonfiction books, hands-on activities, and project-based learning. We are teaching our students that science is a way of thinking through observation, asking question and experiments.

MyPlace's STEAM-based activities helps our children become better problem solvers, innovators, and logical thinkers. Our teachers keep students engaged and excited through educational games, creative art, and age-appropriate engineering projects.

Project-Based Learning

Project-based learning stimulates students in hands-on activities that allows them to build their own knowledge and explore their creativity. It provides our learners the opportunity to connect the activities they do at MyPlace with the world around them. We encourage students to ask questions and find solutions by collaborating with their peers.

Driving Questions

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Collaboration

We invite family and community helpers to talk about the work they do.

Sharing

We send out a theme-based MyPlace family craft activity so we can share with our family.

Communication

We share what we learned as we create our firefighter hats.

Critical Thinking

We read books about community helpers.

Technology Integration

We program our robots to repair our themed-based vocabulary words.

Sign Language & Spanish Lessons

Early childhood is a wonderful time to introduce Sign Language and Spanish to children.

We start sign language classes as early as our infant program. During circle time, we explore new worlds through music and movement, reading books, and group activities.

Bringing Literacy to Life

MyPlace Foundations of Learning also focuses on pre-reading skills. Our goal is for our students to fall in love with literacy. Learners will discover the basics of letters and sounds and grow to write their thoughts and experiences in their journal.

We do many S.T.E.A.M. related activities such as:

  • Story time with Tonies

  • Art Projects

  • Sensory Activities

  • Simple Coding with Ozobot and QOBO the Snail

  • Science Experiments
